We are in the process of working out the details on how exactly the scheduling of Baptisms will work. In the past, Baptisms were scheduled on the 3rd Sunday and 4th Saturday of each month. Due to the limitations of 10 people in the church at a time (including the priest) we are working out a very strict schedule of times for each Baptism to take place. These time schedules have not yet been established. Each Baptism will be individual with due concern for health and safety with the Baptismal water separate for each child. Until further notice, all Baptisms will take place in the Parish Center Chapel.
You may register for a Baptism online at smrcc.org and select the date you would like to reserve if you have not done so already and you will be notified later as to the exact time it will take place.
Again please choose either the 3rd Sunday or 4th Saturday of the month.
In the name of every member of the Parish community here at St. Matthew, I offer our congratulations and prayerful best wishes. The great event of birth was a spiritual experience in its own way, an encounter with God’s wonderful plan of creation. To see and hold new life – that you have created in cooperation with God – is a tremendous privilege.
You come now to prepare for the great Sacrament of Baptism that celebrates your child’s new life. The Sacrament of Baptism takes place at St. Matthew on the Third Sunday of each month at 1:45 P.M. and the Fourth Saturday of each month at 12:30 P.M. Online registration is required. Please follow these instructions carefully:
1. Complete and submit the Baptismal Registration Form choosing one of the days mentioned above. You will get an email confirmation of the date and time within a day or two.
2. First time parents are required to register and attend the Preparation for Baptism Class offered on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 P.M. in the church. (No class in December.) During this meeting, you will come to know better the meaning of Baptism, where and when it will take place, your role as parents and the role of the child’s Godparents. The Godparents are not required to attend. You must register for one of the classes.
3. Print 2 copies of the Sponsor Testimony Form. They are to be given to each one of the Godparents (Sponsors) you have chosen for your child. All requirements and instructions are printed on the forms themselves. See the forms for further details.
4. There is no fee for the baptism, however, any offering or donation is greatly appreciated on the day of the baptism.
The Baptismal Certificate will be mailed to you within four to six weeks after the Baptism.
I offer my personal prayerful best wishes and blessing on you and your child.
