A Letter from Our Pastor

November 30, 2021

Dear friends,

This coming week the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Wednesday, December 8th.

While a great feast in the Universal Church, it has a special resonance for us in the United States.

In 1846 the Catholic bishops of the United State assembled in Baltimore named Mary Immaculate as the special patron saint of the country. Pope Pius IX confirmed their wish and named this feast day of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th as our national Patronal Feast and a Holy Day of Obligation.

Masses will be offered as follows:

Tuesday, December 7th:
7 PM

Wednesday, December 8th:
9 AM
10:30 AM ( Traditional sung Latin High Mass)
12 Noon

All are in the main church.

A good theological and historical account of this doctrine and feast can be found at :  ewtn.com/catholicism/teachings/immaculate-conception-222

This country needs Our Lady’s patronage more than ever!

God’s blessings,
Father Hewes
