When registering a new student for Religious Education classes in our Winter Program grades 1 thru 8, a parent must come into the Religious Education office with a copy of the child's Baptismal Certificate.
Classes meet weekly.
For elementary school grades, first through fifth, you have a choice of Monday through Thursday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
Middle School grades 6, 7 & 8 also meet weekly but at night. Eighth grade is Monday night from 7 to 8pm and grades 6 & 7 meet on Tuesday night 7-8pm.
Prior records are required for children in grades 2 through 8 who attended Religious Education classes in another Church.
The fee of $200.00 per child (cash, check or credit card) is due upon registration. Family rates apply for 3 or more students. In order to register children in the Religious Education program here at St. Matthew, families must be registered members of the parish, meaning they get mailings, text messages and offering envelopes from St. Matthew's church.

You can register your family by filling out a Census form online at http: //smrcc.org/registeronline or when you come in to register your child/ children for classes, we can provide a Census form at that time as well.
For safety reasons, all children in grades 1 through 5 must be signed in and out by a parent or adult. Students in the 6th, 7'h & 8th grades can come in on their own. They must be dropped off at the Gym Entrance Door at the end of the Parish Center Building and come right upstairs to their classrooms. However, these Middle School students (6th, 7th & 8th grades) must be signed out each week by a parent or adult.
We do have a Special Needs Program for grades 1 through 8.
Typically, children receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in May of second grade. We make Confirmation in the Spring of 8th grade. Sacrament years are now two-year programs - First Communion 1st & 2nd grade, Confirmation 7th & 8th grade.
At St. Matthew, together with the parents and with the grace of God, the Religious Education Department along with all the catechists, work hard to help the children become all God created them to be.
