St. Vincent de Paul – Events

Winter Coat Drive

This annual event gives our parishioners an opportunity to clean out their closets and at the same time provide warm jackets and coats to those in need.

Walk for the Poor

In September of each year, Saint Mathews Conference participates in the Friends of the Poor® Walk sponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Long Island. All funds raised by our sponsors are returned to the Saint Mathew’s Conference to serve the needs of the poor in our local community.

Thanksgiving Food Basket

During November, our Vincentians are busy working to help make the Thanksgiving season a bit brighter for the less fortunate in our community. Thanksgiving week finds our volunteers sorting and bagging all the fixings needed for a Thanksgiving dinner – turkeys, of course included!! As always our parishioners are most generous in donating food for this occasion.

Christmas Angel Giving Tree

Our most special project is our Christmas Giving Tree when our merry band of volunteers work preparing the tags for the Christmas Giving Tree. The tags are enthusiastically placed on the Giving Tree, with the hope that a special gift will be returned which will bring joy at this special time of the year to those facing difficult times.  The generous spirit of the St. Matthew’s parish family overwhelms even our most seasoned volunteers as they sort and bag the gifts for the needy families in our community.

Dates for all events will be announced both in the parish bulletin and on this website.
